The atolls are located to the south of the Lakshadweep Islands that are in the Indian Territory. On the other hand, they are somewhere between the Chagos Archipelago and the Minicoy islands. To its north east lies Sri Lanka whereas to the north east lies India. Though not so popular, Maldives is still quite unique in its own way.
